What would a community be if the managers couldn't talk to one another? Messages is BuzzerBeater's real-time chat for private conversations: you write to another manager, and he reads it the moment you send it. You find it under Community in the sidebar, and a mark on it tells you something new has arrived. For talking in public, see Chat Rooms.
Messages keeps your conversations on one side, newest first, and your Buddy List on the other; on a phone they are two tabs.
- New conversation: search for a manager by name (three letters are enough to start) and write to him. You can also start from his profile: tap his name anywhere in the game and open the CHAT tab. A conversation appears on both lists with its first message, so opening one and saying nothing leaves no trace.
- Writing: a message holds up to 500 characters. You can send emoji, a sticker, or up to four pictures, GIFs or files, and you can edit or delete your own messages afterwards; a deleted message leaves a small note in its place.
- Mentions: type @ to name a manager, a player, a team, a game, a competition, a staff member or a country. The name becomes a link, and players, teams and games also appear as cards beside your words, so nobody has to go looking for the player you are raving about.
- Reading: a conversation opens at its newest message and follows new ones as they arrive; scroll up for older ones. Private conversations are kept for good. What the game itself has to tell you (a friend request, a won auction, a call-up, a friendly offered) comes as a notification in the bell, not as a message, and you choose which kinds you receive in Settings, under Notifications.
- Buddy List: your friends, and which of them are online. Add a buddy with ADD BUDDY, on the list or on a manager's profile: he gets a friend request he can accept or decline, and once he accepts you are buddies both ways. The Received and Sent buttons on the list show the requests still open. Tap a buddy to open his profile, and write to him from there.
No BuzzerBeater staff (the BBs or the GMs) will ever ask you for your password or any other sign-in details, in Messages or anywhere else. Please report any attempt to do so through Report Cheaters, in Settings.
